This Website and Your Privacy
I take your trust in this game, and how your data is treated, seriously.
This game is played and run for fun and not for money, so I will never contact you about direct payment — all donations are made through Just Giving and go directly to our charities, and not to triceydotnet.
You’ve probably received a link to this site from someone who knows me personally, since I send this out to my friends, family, colleagues and entrants to previous competitions to invite them to take part.
I (David Trice, running triceydotnet) look after the personal data on this site. To set your mind at ease, here are the important details.
What I store about you
- Account: your name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash), and timezone.
- Team identity: the display name you choose and your team avatar (shape and colours — no uploaded photos).
- Gameplay: your predictions, scores, standings, and deadline progress.
- Preferences: email bulletin frequency, charity choice, and pledge details.
- Technical: login sessions and a log of which pages you visit (see below).
What others can see
On the leaderboard and elsewhere on the site, other players always see your team name and avatar. Your real name is hidden by default. If you switch on “Show my name on the leaderboard” when you register or in Account options, others will also see your name alongside your team name.
How I use your data
- I use your email to run the game: matchday digest bulletins (scores, standings, deadlines, and pledge updates), plus unavoidable account emails such as registration confirmation and password reset. You can choose how often you receive digests — every matchday, every three days, or never — in Account options. I may also email you after the tournament with fundraising totals and news of the next contest.
- I use cookies to keep you logged in, protect forms from forgery, and remember your cookie preference. After you register, a short-lived cookie may pre-fill your email on the sign-in form so you do not have to type it again. These essential cookies are always used when you use the site.
- I log which pages logged-in users visit, along with the date and IP address, so I can work out what went wrong if you report a problem, and to guard against abuse on sign-in.
- Donation links go through reputable fund-raising sites such as JustGiving (which apply their own small processing charges). You can also give directly on the charities’ own websites. I don’t receive your payment details.
- Some pages load scripts or fonts from third parties (Google, jsDelivr) so the site looks and works properly; donation pages may embed JustGiving. I don’t sell your data to anyone.
- I don’t make money from this game — hosting and development cost me time and money. I run it because I enjoy playing in it.
- I won’t chase or harass you to follow up on your pledge. That’s up to you.
- No third-party advertising. I may use Google Analytics to see which pages are used, but only if you choose Accept all on the cookie bar (see Cookies below).
Cookies
- Essential — login sessions, CSRF protection, and optional registration email prefill. Required for the site to work when you sign in.
- Analytics (optional) — Google Analytics if you choose Accept all. This helps me see general usage trends (for example which pages are popular). It is not used for advertising.
- Your choice — whether you selected essential cookies only or accepted analytics as well. You can change your mind anytime using Cookie preferences in the site footer.
Your choices
- Change your email frequency, timezone, password, and leaderboard name visibility in Account options.
- Change cookie settings using Cookie preferences in the site footer.
- Email me at support@tricey.net if you want something corrected or your account and game data deleted. I keep data for the tournament and a reasonable follow-up unless you ask me to remove it.
I hope you enjoy the game as much as I will.
David Trice
